Is it mechanically possible to install a cam shaft for an F134 in an L134 flathead? I think this might have happened on my rebuild. A complete overhaul has been done, and the compression is still very low. The valves are adjusted properly, and the pistons and rings are new. Is there a way to tell by looking at the cam shaft once the pan is off? Thanks, Gary

I have a 46 CJ2 Jeep with the gear driven cam. I can not set the timing right. Some one rebuilt it before I bought it. Is it possible they put the cam from a chain driven cam?

They really are not interchangeable and wouldn't install with one another due to the gear direction on it for the oil pump.

I was not able to locate a serial # on my original motor, where could I look? It is a Column shift CJ2a '46. I also have a spare block, I was able to find stamped #s on the top of the block on the cylinder head surface. Its #s are 4T25965. Is this a Chain or gear motor? I know my original is a gear driven, But I wanted to confirm it as the original block. I by just looking at the other block cant see a difference but want to make sure. The same with the trans. How do I know what are the right parts for them?

You would have a 4-134L head. You would really have to look at your front timing to see if your gear or chain driven.
