Hello Mike: I am getting ready to replace the intermediate shaft, bearings etc in my 54 cj3b transfer case. Should I also replace the intermediate shaft gear, it does wobble some on the shaft? I have read this replacement work can be done without removing the transfer case from the vehicle. Any thoughts? Thanks, Doug

Its going to be hard to do without taking out of vehicle. I would drop it if you can, it makes it alot easier if doing repair work. But yes, the access cover on bottom can be removed and the one at the rear as well.

I have a 1957 Dana Model 18 transfercase with a 1 1/4 shaft. Is this the correct gear?
Willys Tech:
Yes this gear is for that year range.
