Is the oil seal represented in the picture, next to the timing chain gasket, for the front crankshaft seal located in the timing chain cover?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I do believe that is the timing seal there in the image. Its in the kit either way.

There are these little aluminum rings that look like shower curtain rings and i dont know what they are could you help me figure it out?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help you out.

Would a 1962 6-226 engine have a rope or neoprene rear main seal? What year did Willys switch over from rope to neoprene, or visa versa?

Willys Tech:
By that year they would have a neoprene rear main seal. Typically 1958 they switched over.

How do I know wether I have a rope or neoprene seal?

Willys Tech:
The only way to be sure is to do a visual inspection.

Can I replace a rope seal with a neoprene in my 57 Jeep FC-170? I think it has a rope seal now.

Willys Tech:
If you have rope you have to stick with rope. If you have neoprene you have to stick with neoprene. We have both seals.

Do you know if the 226 engine used in Jeeps are the same used in the older Kaiser/Frazer cars. Because I'm looking for gaskets.

Willys Tech:
Yes the are pretty much the same except for the oil pan gasket. But it can be cut to fit.
