What is the difference between the front and rear shocks?
Willys Tech:
The rear shocks on a CJ-5/M38A1 are little more heavy duty than the fronts and have a slightly different expanded and collapsed length on them from the fronts. You can put rears on the front of your vehicle if you want but not the othe way around.
