Trying to find a starter for a 1957 Willy’s dj3b with the L4-134 but not having luck any help is greatly appreciated

I am trying to identify my starter in my 1953 cj3b with key start and starter solenoid on firewall and a 12 volt system It has the number 2271 stamped on it with a number 4 above it, not sure if this is a 6 volt or 12 volt starter , thanks

Is it possible to buy this item without sending in the original starter prior? I ask since I have a my Willys in Central America for the holidays and need the Jeep running. Once I return I can send in the core. Is there something we can work out so that I can end up paying the $250 in the end.
