Mike...My cable is 10 and 1/4 and The one I was sent is 11 1/4. That is a pretty big difference. I have a CJ2a and ordered the master bellcrank repair kit and the longer cable is messing me up. Please help.

Hi Mike, How tight should the yoke be, and should the throwout bearing continuously be in contact with the pressure plate arms?

You will want to adjust it to where there isnt constant contact but yet enough so that the return spring doesnt pull it out of the end of the fork.

1946 CJ-2a. I have this cable it seems to have a lot of slack in the cable. I am still assembling these components, but just thought I would ask.

at 4:14 in the video On the top of the Cross member, the bracket, on the bottom right side of the picture , that holds 2 cables What is that cable from the larger hole to the bolt on the clutch housing ?

Can I change out my clutch release cable with the clutch release fork and transmission still together? May be a dumb question but I’d like to change out my release cable with everything still intact in the Jeep. Thanks.

Yes, there is an access cover ontop of the bellhousing that allows you to see down in there. The ball on the cable just goes thru the slot in the fork and it kept under tension.

I have read that Willys installed a shorter clutch release cable (10.25" #640124) on the earliest models of the M38. The cable currently on my M38 is 11.25" but the clutch disengages too soon (at about 1" off the floorboard). The threaded portion of my current cable is not long enough to make up the 1" difference. !s it possible that I need the shorter cable in order to get the clutch to engage/disengage further from the floorboard?

Is this the cable that gets connected to the crossmember frame on the drivers side through the frame member hole?

It connects to the clutch bellcrank via a clevis and runs forward to the clutch release fork in the bellhousing.
