Doe this hold shock in place with just cotter pin?

Yes, that is all they ever did. They fit tight on the shaft and the motion is up/down so a cotter pin and washer is all that is required.

Your photo image displays a bracket with a cotter pin hole but your description NOTE: comes with 'treaded' pin. Does this mean it has a threaded pin for the shock absorber to be held on by NUT and washer instead of cotter pin?
