Is this the same seal that's used for the inner seal on the rear axle for a 1943 Ford GPW fitted with a GP4025 stamped axle??

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
See part number: A778

Which direction do these seals go in? I've tried both ways and have tweaked them both times.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Spring side towards the oil.

I have the rzeppa style axle, will this seal work?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, these will work for you.

Is the inner seal necessary since the knuckle is filled with fluid also?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes it is absolutely necessary. The differential is filled with fluid, the knuckle is filled with grease, not fluid.

Do you sell a tool to install these seals? If not where can I get one?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I typically use a large socket to press in so it goes in evenly.

There's a seal protector that's installed before the seal. Is that protector available with a part number?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Send a photo of what you have there so we can see. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com

Can I replace the seals while the axle is mounted the carrier removed but the pinion is in place?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The carrier and axle would have to come out to install.

My CJ2a with Warn Hubs is leaking oil into this Warn Hub. I don't see a seal that would keep the oil from coming into this area that is only supposed to be lubed with grease. Might this be due to overfilling? Will it damage the Warn Hub to be getting this oil?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
649784 should seal you at the hub.

Is this the same seal that goes on the axle by the knuckle to keep grease from entering the tube?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, this is by the carrier only on the inside.

What tool can i use to install these seals?? Its very hard to press them in with a socket and a hammer

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Honestly we usually use a socket and mallet. Main thing is to make sure it goes in evenly and does not get crooked. But there are oil seal removal/installation tool you can buy at local Napa.

I see the inner axle seal for the Dana 25, but I don't see any listing for the 27. I have a Dana 27 on my "64 CJ5. I don't have it apart yet, so I have to ask, is there no seal on the 27 or is it just not listed? Do you carry the item?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, they will fit the Dana 27 front axle. Thanks

Size of the seal?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
2.25" OD and 1.175" ID approx.

This outer diameter of the new seal seems to be slightly greater than the original than was in my vehicle (M38A1). Is there a special tool for installing these that would prevent distorting the seal?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They are the same diameter. Just make sure you have all of the original seal out of there. Make sure part of the outer rim is still not stuck in the housing.

Can you replace the inner seals without removing the ring and pinion

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, the carrier would have to be removed.

How do you remove the wheel inner seals on both the front and rear? I have attempted to tap it out with no movement on the seal.

Willys Tech:
If you arent concerned with reusing them we usually use a needle nose screwdriver that is very thin to pry them out.

What do I need for each front axle besides bearings for a '49 CJ-3A in terms of seals. Thanks

Willys Tech:
The other part number I would order is 805150 & 915664

What direction do these seals go in?

Willys Tech:
They only go in one way. The lip will be tapered.

I am confused as to where this seal goes. Page 192 of the service manual for universal jeeps (mine is Cj2a) shows a seal item 17. Is that this seal? Also is item 15 and 16 needed if I use new u-joint axles in place of the Bendix axles?

Willys Tech:
This is the inner seal by the carrier bearings. We can help you with the other. Please call us toll.

How many per axle?

Willys Tech:
2 per axle.
