My fuel pump puts out about 8 psi of fuel pressure without the spacer. Do you know how much of a reduction in pressure that this spacer will give me?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It will cut it down for sure but email mike@Kaiserwillys.com to help.

I bought and put one of these on my 1949 Willys CJ3A project. It did not have one on it. I haven't started it since I started the rebuild a year ago. I'm getting ready to fire it up. Are there any conditions or concerns I should be aware of that would cause me to have to remove it? Thanks for all your time and help in this rebuild!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It cuts fuel pressure by backing off the arm. You may want to buy a fuel pressure gauge to know where you are at.

my old fuel pump looked like it was not pumping enough fuel into glass bowl. orderd new one and still seems to only pull approx. 1/4 inch of gas on floor of bowl. runs but rough . 1946 l head 134 . any thoughts

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
That is a common misconception that the bowl fills completely with gas. Most times 1/4" is about the max that it will get filled. Thanks

Is this recommended for use on a original fuel pump?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Alot of Willys did use, particularly if you are putting out excessive fuel pressure.

I took the fuel pump off my 1949 CJ3a. I do not have or see this spacer anywhere. Is it ok to add this to my fuel pump?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, I typically have one on my engines.

do you get any lower fuelpressure with the spacer

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, it is used to lower pressure.

what is the material of the spacer?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These are metal.

Does the shirt have Willy's on the front and rescue squad on the back or does it say Willys only or rescue squad only on the front ?

Willys Tech:
The Willys is on the front and the rescue squad is on the back.

my fuel pump & line is retaining too much pressure after shutoff, so that the carb leaks fuel into the intake with the engine off. does this spacer lower the fuel psi and resolve this issue?

Alan:
yes it will lower the pressure.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Its more likely that your motor is dieseling after shut off. I would double check your timing. You can email mike@kaiserwillys.com too.

Am I correct in that a gasket is required on either side of the spacer?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, I would put a gasket on either side.

CJ-3A 4-134 F-head Fuel pump single action 119238, no primer arm Hello, The spacer I have is exactly 3.25 mm thick, what is approx 1/8". Your spacer does not look as if it is 1/4" (6.35 mm): The holes are 8.5 mm (1/3"). The thickness is less than half of the size of the holes. What does this spacer exactly do, as the rocker arm has a nose-up form: No spacer: Rocker arm travels more "up" than with spacer. Longer travel (no spacer) means stronger up-down stroke? So what is the spacer for? And how thick is it really? Thank you Michael

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They made different thicknesses thru the years I have found. The military spacers in later ones were very thick. It backs the arm of the fuel pump away from the lobe of the camshaft, which reduces throw and fuel pressure. If you have too much pressure - anything over 4 pounds really then I would recommend the spacer.

How thick are these spacer? My fuel pump works but it seems to take a long time to fill the glass bowl up when its been sitting for a while. I wasn't sure if adding this part would make a difference, if its only like 1/16 thick, could I just get some thicker cork gasket?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It is approx. 1/4" thick.

I have a 4 134 F engine is this spacer needed?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This part will work for all 4-134 engines.

Are there two different styles of shirts or is the printing front and back?

Willys Tech:
That is front and back view of it.

Would this spacer be necessary for my CJ3A, 4-134 with a standard Airtex aftermarket fuel pump?

Willys Tech:
They were original to the vehicles.

Do I need a gasket to go between the block and the spacer, and one between the spacer and the pump?

Willys Tech:
I would put one yes.

I'M getting conflicting answers, do I need the spacer on my 1955 CJ5 with duel action pump???

Willys Tech:
Yes We always recommend these spacers.
