On an M38 about how far from the floor is the brake pedal on full pressure?

Is there a retainer to hold the plunger in place? Mine pulls away from the master cylinder and will not stay engaged with the piston.

My old push rod does not seem to be long enough and it is not adjustable (Rusted beyond moving). First, how much will this push rod adjust, and how do I know when it is adjusted correctly? Thanks

I have been involved in a project for too long now. jeep basket case one problem after another. Trying to do the brakes not only does the master cylinder not fit but now I find the pushrod is way short. - that is what I assume. the brake pedal sits way down by the engine block before it does anything which leads me to believe that there is a difference in brake pushrod lengths especially considering two listings in descriptions for pushrods. Am I correct?

Yes, there is a small difference in push rods from vehicle to vehicle model. That is why we list different ones. CJ-2A did you two different style master cylinders (805223 or A556) and two different push rods (647606 or A183) from what you've written above sounds like that is what you have.
