Do I need to remove the steering wheel and column to replace the adapter in tthe gearbox? or can I remove the side plate of the gearbox to replace the adapter? Or something else? Thanks

Does this horn switch adapter press into the steering box. I have a 1951 M38. The tube on my old one is broken.

not sure of model of jeep or year the gear box looks like one of m38 how do i replace the adapter its broken.and the wiring from the horn button do i need a shaft it didnt have one in the steering worm gear shaft.is there a schematic of the horn i can reference.
