I notice in the pictures that this starter lacks the flange on the back to secure to the engine block. Did someone decide this mount point was no longer necessary?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please give us a call and ask for Mike M

I noticed that the Factory Rebuilt Starter Motor 6 volt looks like my starter on my 1948 Willy Jeep CJ2A. The New Replacement Starter Motor 6 volt picture looks different on the shaft end. Is this the same as the Factory Rebuilt Starter Motor on shaft end. Thank you. Alan

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They make the AA4113 starters just a bit different it functions the same as the original.

Hello - I am re-building a 1942 GPW that was converted to 12V. The starter motor is working, but has one ear on the front bell-mount broken (I still have piece for possible welding) and the bendix does not have the small light-weight return spring. I can't tell if the starter is truely a 12v or just a 6v unit that is running off of 12v (It matches the 6v images I have seen.) Can you sell a small spring & front bell-mount (Also I may decide to use your bendix drive kit)

Willys Tech:
Your starter is still probably 6volt. We do sell the bendix part number: A17702 and we do have new hi-torque 12volt starters part number: A1245-12V

I have a 1948 CJ2A with a 4-134 engine. How can I tell if all of my electrical parts (generator, starter, coil, voltage regulator, etc.) are for a 12 volt battery which I have been using for years with no trouble?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you can email mike@kaiserwillys.com the stamping on them and I can ID them for you.

47 cj2 I have trouble with the starter or electrical system. Sometime I go to start it and it will turn over but wont start. I would do this a couple time and then I go to start it again and there is nothing at all, not sure what to do from here witch part to change or check

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Call me toll free. I can help you troubleshoot. Ask for Mike M.

I have a 1948 jeep Willys truck and I want to do the 12 volt starter conversion. What else do I need from you to do the starter? The 6 volt starter that is in it is no longer working. thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We would just want to confirm your old starter motor numbers. Please call us toll free and we can help. Thanks!

have a 12V starter for a 1942 GPW. Needs a new armature. The copper brush contacts are all worn out. Can I get a armature to replace my old one?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We will need to figure out what starter someone has put in the vehicle. Please call us toll free and we can help.

What is the status on the version for pickups and wagons? 2016, 2017, fall, winter, spring?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
For that try www.hermtheroverdriveguy.com

STARTER 6V MB IS NOW AVAILABLE ? CAN BE CHANGED ALL ELECTR. FROM 6V TO 12V ? FOR SHIPMENT TO ITALY CAN WE USE ALSO OUR DHL NUMBER ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This part is a rebuilt option we have but we do need your old core back first. If you're switch to 12 volt, try A1245-12V, the hi-torque starter which is sold out right. No core required. Thanks

My starter on 1947CJ2A grinds and the bendix will not activate. What are my alternatives?

Willys Tech:
We have new bendix drive gears and flywheel ring gears available that should fix your problem. Or we can do like above and rebuild yours. If your 12 volt we even have new hi-torque starters available.

I have a 1943 Willys MB that has been converted to a 12v system. The starter looks like the one on your website listed as a 6v. The starter does not have a bendix on it. The armature has a bad spot on it and needs replacing. Will the 6v starter work on a 12v system? Can I send my starter to you guys and have it rebuilt if I cannot find a replacement starter?

Willys Tech:
We can rebuild your old one no problem. Yes a 6 volt starter will work on a 12 volt system for a while but it will eventually burn out. We also have 12 volt high torque aftermarket starters available too.

1949 willys mechecal ingage starter want to change to 12 volt key start starter

Willys Tech:
We have 12 volt hi-torque gear reduction starters. Please call us toll free and we can ID what you need.

I have a 47 cj2a and my starter turns the engine over once or twice slowly then it just stops. I'm using a new fully charged battery. Do you think I need a new starter like this one?

Willys Tech:
This is a rebuilt starter. You will need to send it in. We do have brand new hi torque starters if you are running 12volt too. Part number: A1245-12V available.

I recently took title to my father's 48 CJ2A. I noticed that he had a newer 8 V battery installed which makes the starter turn over faster. Is this a concern for the electrical system (which is a 6 V system)? Rob

Willys Tech:
Alot of people do this. It is perfectly normal. I would just go thru your electrical system and make sure everything seems to be in good order and all connections are tight.

I have a cj3a... 6 volt starter....I have converted to 12v system... will a 12 volt that's for a cj3b work on my 3a with L-134 engine, or will I have to stay with 6 volt starter...?

Willys Tech:
The CJ-3A takes part number: 641157-12V

I have a 1945 MB and the autolite starter says MZ 4109 i was wondering if this starter was 6 or 12 Volt, and weather it was original for the motor?

Willys Tech:
It should say MZ-4113. Sounds like you have an unoriginal starter motor. Please call me toll free. We may be able to help out.

Is there a 12 volt replacement for the autolite MZ-4113 6 volt starter?

Willys Tech:
The part number is: A1245-12V

how u tell if 6 volt or 12 volt 1942 jeep willys?????

Willys Tech:
The best way is check your battery. Also look at your generator it will be stamped.

Will this starter work with a 12 volt conversion system?

Willys Tech:
Yes, this will work just fine.

Can I order the starter now and then send you the old starter later, Is there a deposit that can be refunded when you receive the old starter?

Willys Tech:
Please call us toll free. I can go over some options for you.
