Is this correct for a late 1948 CJ2a?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This is the correct steering wheel for all CJ 2As.

As background: I am building a street rod 1938 Fiat Topolino. The goal is to look as stock as possible given it has 21.5" wide rear tires and a 500 h.p. SBC. To accomplish this goal I need a vintage looking 3-spoke steering wheel, but in 15" (serious space issues 😁). They are made for 1964 Jeep CJs. The challenge My question is: does anyone know where I can find a weld-on adapter that would transition my custom steering system/shaft (3/4" DD) to the 36 spline of a 1964 Jeep CJ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Maybe try Grant steering they may be able to help.

The wheel hub rubs the steering column tube making some squealing noise and hanging up. Removing the wheel is challenging. Measure the inside diameter of the wheel and the column tube before you install so you can attempt adjustments before the wheel is set. Any advice for after the fact would be appreciated - I did try some teflon spray lube.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Email mike@kaiserwillys.com or give us a call and we can try to help.

What is the outside diameter of this steering wheel and will it fit a 1948 CJ2A?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

Will this fit 1945 Ford GPW. I need black. The original only comes in OD

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, they fit the same.

Hey Mike I'm trying to figure out which steering wheel to order for my 1949 CJ3a. It has the A6742 horn button kit . It does not have the 1 1/4" rubber cover over the nut. The steering wheel is black and this is all original and has never been changed. Would a number off the old steering wheel help? Thank you.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
914047 would be the one. It accepts both styles.

I have a 1947 CJ2A and from what I can see the wheels were interchangeable. Will this fit the 1947? Thanks. Mike

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, they used the same steering wheels.

Does this reproduction steering wheel have a "Sheller" stamp?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, none are made that way.

Q.1. Do you have a source for horn assy for a M38A1 (1955 Model) Button, rod, switch and wiring?

Do you know a source for a smaller than 17" diameter steering wheel for my 1943 Ford GPW Jeep?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, one is not made that is smaller. You loose all your steering leverage to turn the wheels.

I have a 1960 CJ-5 that the steering wheel was replaced with a smaller off market steering wheel. I would like to restore back to original. What parts do I need in addition to the steering wheel? Thanks,

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would check to see if your original tube and worm gear the steering wheel fits down on is still intact.

Does this fit a 36 spline shaft!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I'll have to count the splines on the tube and worm gear. It will slide down the splines of all the vehicles listed under the 'Fits".

Does this steering wheel have the machined groove for horn retaining ring?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They didnt use a horn ring on this steering wheel. The nut went on the outside of the steering wheel.

I just put my new steering wheel on my 46 CJ-2a. It's very stiff to turn the wheel. Any idea why? And how far is the threaded portion of the steering shaft supposed to extend through the wheel when it's properly seated? There's about 1/4 extending through mine, so I stopped trying to make it go any further....thanks...Curt....

Willys Tech:
It is hard to turn the steering wheel unless you are moving. I would check your set screw on your steering gear box too.

Can I get a smaller diameter wheel?

Willys Tech:
That would be something you have to pick up locally. Really you need this 17 steering wheel to keep your leverage when steering.

what is the diameter of the original steering wheel for the 1949 CJ2A jeep?

Willys Tech:
They are originally 17

My horn button on my '49 CJ-3A is 3/4 dia. Is this the correct steering wheel to get?

Willys Tech:
This will be the correct steering wheel for your CJ-3A.

I have a 58 CJ 5. Can you get a smaller steering wheel instead of the large one that it currently has? I have a son 6'5 tall and hard to sit with steering wheel so large.

Willys Tech:
Really you are gonna want to keep the original 17 so you keep your steering leverage.

Will this steering wheel fit the 1957 CJ6? What other parts are needed to change the wheel? thanks.

Willys Tech:
Yes this will fit right on there. I would also get part number: 802359K.

What is the outside diameter of this wheel and is there a smaller steering wheel like 15in. outsidde diameter to fit this 1964 cj5 Willys Jeep
