Questions & Answers
How do you recommend installing the knob? I understand it is supposed to "push on" but the end of the transmission cane on my '59 CJ5 is larger in diameter than the hole in the knob.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a CJ then it would be threaded originally. Sounds like the end of your threaded stud broke off. You may just have to enlarge hole and glue down then.

What is the diameter of the knob?

Can you tell me what diameter of cane this knob will work with (I assume it has to be a very tight press fit)- I have a T-84 without any threads on the cane. Thank you
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It is approx. 3/8" they are tapered. It should work for you with some glue to stay in place.

I am looking for the knobs that fit on the 2 to 4 wheel drive and the Hi / Lo knob. Mine are all falling apart, but are smaller than the one on my gear shifter. Are they different?

My Jeep is early 46. The transfer case shift levers have a knurled surface for a push on knob. They appear to be factory correct. The surface is about 7/16 diameter and 1 long. Will this knob fit those levers or should the knobs be round?
Willys Tech:
It was originally threaded. Whats probably happened is the bake-lite material around the old knobs has come off. What is left on your levers is the threaded metal insert of your old knobs. That's why it looks knurled.

Do you glue this on? How does it stay on?
Willys Tech:
Typically is just pushes on. I suppose you could glue it too.
