Hi, I have a 1962 cj 5 with 3 flathead machine screws showing on the outside face of the drum. Does this mean I do not have to pull the hubs., drill out the swedge and press out the studs to replace the shoes, cylinders and turn the drums?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
That sounds correct. Those are the hold down screws for the drum to hub.

When you say these can be used on a CJ2A to mount to the outside of the hub, you just have to "flip the hub" - but noticed on the rear, the spindle shaft is tapered and the hub will not "flip" onto the axle shaft? That's why I was wondering about the depth of the drum. Also on the fronts the hub would rest up against the backing plate - seems like it could cause wear issues?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
People use these and flip the hub. Then use a counter sunk screw like they did on the later style as well.

Below, someone asked if this drum could be used on a CJ-2A. The answer was: "Yes you just have to flip the hub around and you are all set." I'm guessing that means it will work if mounted on the outside of the hub, instead of the inside like the original. This drum will work for both front and rear?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
As long as you have the style hub that has the threaded holes to accept the drum on the outside it will work for you.

On my dana 27 with these brake drums, my hub appears to be mounted outboard of the drum. Is this correct? Or should the hub be mounted inboard?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Typically it is mounted on the inside of the drum. Send us some photos of your set up and we can try to help. Mike@kaiserwillys.com

Hi, can you tell me what the maximum wear is, how much mm? Before machining that is. Or is there a visual clue that you can see its too worn. Thanks
Willys Tech:
Do not remove more than .030 thickness of metal. Basically look for scoring.
