Questions & Answers
Mike, we spoke earlier today. If I buy A11840 to plug the back of the engine block, do I need to buy a plug for the valve opening in the water pump?

Is it ok to plug these ports or is circulation through them critical to engine cooling? If they're ok to plug, what is the thread count and diameter for the brass plug?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You can certainly plug these off if they are not used. It is half inch but unsure on thread.

On my '46 cj-2a flathead, the manual shut off valve is on the top of water pump and my bypass hose fitting is a 90 degree located on top corner of head. Is that correct?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You can do it either way. I usually put the manual shut off on the head because there is more room there.

If I'm understand it correctly you may just need to flip flop the hoses on your heater connection and the flow will be correct from engine thru heater.
