My son ordered this distributor Part #17239 for a 52 Willys -Aero. It appears that the distributor is the right one but the timing shaft is way to short. He tells me the motor is a 6-226. We need a timing shaft 5.375 inches. long. Do you have one of these timing shafts available? If so will you send me the information so I can order it.

I have had this product installed in my 61 Willy's pickup for roughly 5 years. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. We had a pretty good shot of rain last week and I was unable to get my Jeep started because of the moisture underneath the distributor cap. What is the proper maintenance schedule for this electronic ignition? Thanks.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This can happen on vintage vehicles. You may want to consider covering it if you know your going to get alot of rain and it sits outside. Also you can just pop the cap and check it too before starting when in that situation.

Willys Tech:
There should be a metal tag on the distributor. Sometimes they can be hard to see.

On the description of this distributor, it says that it does away with old points and moving parts of original distributors. The question that iI have is do I need to do anything other than put the new distributor in the vehicle? How will it function if there are no points??

This is a complete solid state distributor and uses a ignition module instead of points. It is a simple wire hook up no modification required.
