I have White discoloring on my exhaust manifold. Thinking it might be an exhaust leak I have been reading some post on the issue And one came up about a heat raiser . My 45 doesn’t have one the hole is closed with a bolt from previous owner. Is this cause if discoloring/ low engine power ?

Is this part needed? Mine is rusted in the open position. I plan on keeping this jeep in a garage and will likely not drive it in the cold anyway.

What is the O.D. of the bushings in your kit? I have an Omix ADA kit that would require a 35/64 hole that would be way bigger than the existing one's in the manifold.

Do you sell the flap?

We have the 'stop' but the flapper inside is used only.

What is worse case scenario if the heat riser spring is not connected? Attempting to drill out the bolt (it was froze in the manifold) I broke an easy out in the drilled out bolt trying to remove it. Now I can't connect the bracket that holds the spring. I live in the south and don't plan to drive it in cold weather.

I would leave it in the open position and it is ok in warm weather.

Will this fit the 6-226 engine any bright ideas for getting the old sized one out

How is the flapper attached to the rod? The one I removed appeared to be welded.

Willys Tech:
Some were welded some were held in with 2 small flat head screws.

I can hear the flapper very loudly in my 46' cj2a. when the motor is running. Does that mean it is broken, or damaged and need to be replaced?

Willys Tech:
It should be spring loaded. Make sure the spring is still there and under tension.

How do you know if the heat riser is working? will you see a physical movement?

Willys Tech:
Yes, it will open the flap up. You will see the counter weight move.

Having problems removing old bushings, do the need to be drilled out or punched out? Any certain way does it all go back?

Willys Tech:
You can typically punch them out.
