I have a CJ 3A motor in my CJ - 2A (replacement motor). From your catalogue and this picture, I think this is the right starter. It has all the linkage for the external push button start. Is there a separate bendix for this or is it built in? Do I need to send in the old starter to receive the new one, i.e. will mine be rebuilt? Does Kaiser Willy's have a preference? Thank you.

My rebuilt original starter is installed into a rebuilt 1951 CJ3 original 4 cyl. When starting it seems to turn over slowly. A local mechanic thought there may be a bushing missing in the bell housing causing the gear to beslightly mis-alligned and dragging down the starter. could that be?. Is there a bushing? If so do have a part #.

I would double check your battery first. Then make sure you are using the proper gauge battery cable and your ground connections are good.

Do you have the pushrod for the foot starter for the CJ-3A that goes with the starter ?
