how do you test for proper draw on the vacumn wipers?

Hello, I have an M38A1, hurricane engine. Connect the pipe for the vacuum system from the intake to the tee that connects the PCV valve, from there to the vacuum pump that is included under the gasoline pump and then en route to the key on the dash that operates the wiper motors. The motor on the driver's side works fine, but the motor on the passenger's side is slower and even stalls. Interchange the engines and the same thing keeps happening (to verify if any engine failed), I disconnect the vacuum pump from the gasoline pump and improve the speed but the difference between both engines remains. Can you give me an answer to help me fix this bug? Thanks

I have two to have rebuilt, both from separate 58 CJ5's. My motors are slightly different: They have chrome plated push/pull knob which are only difference between the ones in your pictures. Do you guys support these or am I out of luck? Since they're identical, it makes me believe that these are original/factory units.

Do you have the wiper units for a 1952 M38 that have the vacuum tube from the pump but then have a vent tube from each unit that goes to the brass T on the air cleaner? The units you show don’t look like those in the M38 manual.

When I lower my windshield, the wiper shaft hits the hood before the windshield rests on the wooden blocks. Any idea why?

I've had the same problem. You could replace the hold off spacers with longer ones so as the wiper motor is further in and the exposed shaft is shorter. Or, what I did, was make new blocks that are tall enough to keep the wiper arm from touching the hood. I made blocks out of 2 x 3, painted black, they look good and work.

It depends on your vehicle. Later CJ's had footman loops to buffer it. Earlier ones had wood spacer blocks for the spacing.
