I have a 1964 J200 Gladiator Thriftside 4WD (Vin # 2406W11132). I am not sure if the front axle is a Dana 27 or a 44. Do these bearings fit? Best Regards Bernd

I have a 1972 Jeep CJ5 with what I thought a Dana 30. I have a bade wheel bearing on the passenger side. However after taking off the locking hub on the passenger side I am not sure how to continue as there is no snap ring that I can see. It appears there is some type of retainer/seal in front of the nut but I can't get it to budge. This object has 5 small holes in what appears to be the outer ring, one if which is bigger than the other 4. It also has a slot that a screwdriver can fit in in the inner ring. I am unsure how to proceed. In all my internet research I have yet to find an item that even bears a resemblance to this item in front of the nut. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

i have a mixed parts cj5 FrankenJeep with mostly late 1950's-early 1960's chassis features. I'm not sure if the front axle is a 25 or a 27. It has the Bendix type joints and 9" brakes, but 6 bolt drive flanges and no snap rings to retain the end of the axle shaft. How can I tell which wheel bearings and hub seals are needed? Apparently the ID is the same where it fits the spindle, but I assume the OD differs to fit in the hub. Can you tel me the diameter of each so I can measure?

If its 50's and early 60's I would assume its a Dana 25. If your bearings are stamped 'LM' then its the Dana 27.

I have a 1967 CJ5 jeep I am rebuilding the front axle. My question is I am putting new wheel bearings in and I need to know if you have to pack the wheel bearings with wheel bearing grease or are they oiled by the axle oil that is in the rear end. Thank You

You always need to properly hand pack your wheel bearings with heavy duty axle grease prior to install.
