Hi, I need to change both leafspring suspensions in the rear for my CJ3-B 1964 and i was wondering for my leaf spring shackle kits if i could use 1x 802061 1x 802062? Thank you for your time
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes that is correct.

On 2 brackets the upper bearing is allways turning (Probably bad treads on the brackets). Could I Tack weld the hexagone nut on the bracket to prevent the bearing from turning once installed? (Instead of changing the brackets?) Thanks YH
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
See part number: A546 or A544 to fix this.

How tight should the greasable shackle "bolts" be tightened?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Head of the bushing should be snug against the frame bracket and the bushing in the spring eye is 1/32" away from the spring as measured from the inside of the hex head to the spring.

I only need the rubber grease retaining cups for the shackles. The steel is still good. Is there a way to only purchase the rubber cups? I hate to waste the resources for the entire assembly. All the rubber is probably seventy some years old and is falling apart.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I dont usually have those by themselves. But call me toll free. Ask for me Mike M. I can help you out. Thanks!

I PURCHASED P/N 802062 FOR MY M38 RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHICH HAS CW TO TIGHTEN AND CCW TO REMOVE IT WORKED GREAT. NOW I CHECKED MY LEFT FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND IT IS THE SAME AS THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULD I ORDER THIS ONE. I ORDERED THE 802061 BUT PART OF THE SHACKLE IS LH THREAD AND RH THREAD. WILL NOT WORK'. BECAUSE THREADS IN BOTH BUSHINGS ARE RH THREAD TO TIGHTEN AND REMOVE. THANKS DONNIE

On my CJ3A the left front and right rear Shackle has one LH and one RH bushing. The kits seem to indicate all RH bushings but the manual indicates once a LH shackle bushing has been installed it is very difficult to replace with a RH thread. Do you have kits to allow for this original configuration?
Willys Tech:
802061 has the LH & RH threaded bushings.
802061 has the LH & RH threaded bushings.
I read in a Mechanics manual that later models of CJ series were manufactured with all RH thread. Is this true and would it be ok to install all RH thread shackles with bushings on a 48' CJ2A?
Willys Tech:
Alot of people do this and go to the RH threaded.

Willys Tech:
Typically they used this shackle or part number: 916646. You just need to match up what you have in your vehicle.

The leaf spring shackles appear to be threaded on outside, does that mean that the inside of the leaf spring where the shackle goes through is threaded also?
Willys Tech:
The shackle actually bites into the metal so people often think the springs are actually threaded.

Do i need to buy 4 total items for both side leaf springs or does this one item come with both front and rear driver side shackle assemblies.
Willys Tech:
These are each. You will need 4 total shackles to do the whole Willys Jeep.
