I got the CJ2A Master Break Cylinder, so I need the rebuild kit and push rod or does it come with all the internals?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The master cylinder is complete with internals but if you need the push rod or front brake light switch ect that is separate. Thanks!

do u need too bench bleed a master cyl. on a 197 cj-2a

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, you should always bench bleed before installation.

Any chance the metal cap from my original master cylinder would fit this new one (to use instead of the plastic one?)

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Depends on which master cylinder you had on there. But most likely the cap would not fit.

Have a 1946 CJ2A, SN: 28,256. Would my brake master cylinder have the threaded mounting hole? I haven’t tore it down yet

I have a 1948 CJ-2A, with serial #150901. And I believe this is the correct part as the front mounting hole is threaded. But I'm curious, did they ever come with a plastic cap? I'm ordering a new part, but I was just wondering. Thank you.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a plastic cap its most likely a replacement master cylinder.

Will these fit a 1970 CJ5? I will be running 750 16 tires and thought this would make patching tubes much easier.

The better rims for the CJ-5 with 16" tires is going to be part #640800. These are for the early military vehicles. Thanks

I have a 1948 CJ2A with serial number 204787 and only in need of a Master Cylinder cap - do you sell them by itself and what is the cost?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

I have a 48 CJ2A, Ser. Number 177318. The master break cylinder does not appear to pressurize any of the four brake lines... or at least no air or fluid is forced out at the wheels when 'bleeding". could this be a failure of the cylinder piston or one of the rubber cups? No idea how to proceed other than a complete replacement of the master cylinder.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Its usually best to replace the master cylinder all together. We do sell a repair kit too part number: 805654 if the bore on your old master cylinder is still good.

Does master cylinder #A556 have a plastic or metal filler cap? Thanks.

Willys Tech:
Sorry nobody can get these with a metal cap.

I have a '46 CJ2A, #44645. I have a tough time reaching the master cylinder cover to check the brake fluid. Is there a special tool available to remove the cap?
