Hi, I have just replaced all the gaskets and seals in the gear box and transfer case of my 3 speed CJ3b. When i test drove it, both the front and rear transfer case prop shaft seals were leaking. THere seems to be no evidence of damaged seals or similar. I was wondering if i over filled the transfer case. Does the fill hole also represent the full level? Seems like the fill hole is above the output shaft level, which makes the seals work harder so to speak. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Rob

If you didnt put some silicone on the front and rear output yokes splines then you tend to leak from there. I would apply a thin layer on the splines and also make sure you have your vent installed ontop of the case as well part number: A934

Our 62 Jeep Willys pickup gets vibration starting at 35 mp. there seems to be a little slack or play in the front and rear bearings of the transfer case. Would that cause the vibration?

I would check your wheel bearings, steering, toe in/camber. Make sure they are all in spec. I would recommend part number: SJ-7100 steering stabilizer too.

How do i know if my Dana Transfer is 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" Shaft ?.... My Jeep is an CJ3B 1955
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
In that year its 1-1/4" the way to confirm is just look on the backside of the case and measure the intermediate shaft in the middle that is held in place with the lock tab.

I have a '65 CJ-5 my transfer case make grinding sounds when i let off the gas and won't go into 4H and kicks it back down to 2H. Will the minor overhaul kit fix this problem or is it time to send it in for a full overhaul?
Willys Tech:
It should help for sure but it also sounds like you may have some bad gears.

Your nomenclature states 55-66 for 1 1/4 intermediate shaft. Won't this also fit on a Dana/Spicer 18 t-case from a 1967 jeep with 1 1/4 inermediate shaft?
Willys Tech:
Yes it should work just fine.
