my starter has 10 teeth will this still work?

The ring gears are cut in a way that they accept either a 9 or 10 tooth bendix drive.

Does this starter make use of the bushing that is in the transmission bell housing? If so, do I have to change it? If I have to change the bushing, is it included with the new starter?

No, these do not use the bushing.

does this starter have the same points of attachment as the original starter? or will modifications of some sort have to be made? I have a 42 Ford Willys GPW engine this is attaching to.

That is a MZ4113 starter and will be correct.

Are you supposed to ground the starter? If so where at?

Yes, its recommended. Run it off the battery negative to one of the starter mounting bolts.

I have a 51 truck but the numbers on the starter match with this one. Not sure if this would be the correct starter or not.

I just installed this starter on my 46' CJ2A. When I try to crank it grinds like an un-experienced welder. Is there a recommended shim for this starter? Thanks

You shouldn't grind so you may not have the proper flywheel ring gear in your vehicle at 97 teeth or its worn. Please call us toll free and we can help.

How much does a 1947 Agri CJ-2A weigh. And will it fit onto a 5 X 10 ft. trailer?

Is that Bendix gear 1 1/2 like needed on mz-4113 starter?

This is the proper bendix for the MZ-4113 starter.

How do I tell if I have a MB or a GPW its either a 1941 or 1943. Will the A1245-12V starter work on a 4-134F the original engine was 4 cyl flathead?

If its a GPW you will have a small 'f' script on the drivers side fender also on the frame as well.

Only if you are using the original 97 tooth flywheel and bellhousing.

I have 1955, M38A1 Jeep that was partially converted by a fire dept to a 12 volt ignition system, to include an alternator. The starter is sill on a 24 volt system. I would like to replce the original starter with a 12 volt as well, for ease of use. It takes three batteries to make this system work. One would be much better. Do you have such a starter?
