Do ya'll sell any individual parts for these carbs? I am working on a friend's CJ5 with this carb and when adjusting the idle speed it fractured and broke the plate right next to the screw, so I have no way of adjust idle speed on this Jeep now. I've tried to find parts, but so far I have had no luck.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, we have repair kits for the different solex's. See part numbers: SK5 & SK13

I have a 1954 Willys m38a1. This says it fits w “modifications “. What modifications do I need to do?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
809785 is the air horn for the top of it to make the 90 degree turn the YS carbs had. That and a fuel fitting and your all set. Thanks!

I have this carburetor on my CJ3b. When I shut off the jeep after driving for a while, I cannot restart for about an hour. The base of the Carburetor is hot to the touch. The temperature on gauge reads 160F. I assume this is vapor lock. Is there any solution to this?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would double up on the gasket. Sounds like you might be overheating just a hair.

Is there a torque rating for the nuts bolting down the carburetor? Also, can I add more gaskets to raise the carburetor up off of the block and if so, say 4 or 5?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No torque rating per se. Just tighten till no leaks and not crushing it down.

I'm getting ready to mount this carb to my 67 CJ-5. Do you recommend any gasket sealer to be applied with the included gasket or should it be assembled dry? Thanks, Rick

Willys Jeep Parts Tech.:
Typically no. Just make sure the gasket surface at the head is clean.

Can you tell me the product dimensions and Packing Dimensions with weight. Thans

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
10x6x6 boxed and 8 pounds.

I have bought this carb from you and installed this carb on an engine that was rebuilt, it has new fuel pump, new fuel lines and tank. It is had to start, but once started it runs fine but I have to have it choked all the time even after it warms up. is there an adjustment I need to do? or is this a fuel pressure issue? Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your engine is most likely generating poor vaccuum. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help.

Which air horn is needed for this carburetor and what is needed to connect the air horn to this carburetor?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
809785 is the air horn for this application.

Is the choke cable connection in the same position on the Solex as it is on the YS carburetor?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
More or less yes.

Does it come with the gasket ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct.

I have a 55 CJ3B with this carb installed. I am experiencing extreme hesitation. I disassembled the carb and found the accelerator pump “delaminated” that is that the diaphragm is separated in two diaphragms membranes. Am I crazy or should the diaphragm be one piece?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please call us toll free or email mike@kaiserwillys.com

Does the carburetor come tuned so like I can install it and then it will run great

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These carburetors are designed to be install and go. But with anything like this, you always want to confirm the settings and tune once installed and hooked up with fuel.

you state it can use modern gasoline, does that include 10% ethanol unleaded gasoline?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You can but I would never use ethanol if you can help it.

Since this is a new carbarator is will it stand up to modern gasoline.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct.

I bought this carb from Kaiser and installed it on my rebuilt CJ3B. Engine runs fine choked all the way. No choke it won't run. Something stopped up in carb?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your engine is most likely not producing enough vacuum. I would check it. You should have 20 inches of vacuum draw at idle (475 rpm) once fully warm and no longer choked.

Hi, I have been using this carb for a few years now and it has been working great. Now I live at an elevation of 6600 ft and it's not working great. Do you sell a high altitude jet kit or know where to purchase one? Or do I have to buy a new carb? Thanks, Jim

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
When at elevation use high octane gas and it will help out alot.

Hi there. This carburettor can be used in a 52-66 M38A1 (with modification), what would be the modification to do?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Really you just need an air horn for the top of it 809785 and should be off and running.

Hi, I have a Carter YF carburator installed on my 1958 CJ5 willys with 4 cylinders F134 engine, with Mr Gasket 42S electrical fuel pump. the carburetor was rebuilt but i cant make it stop leaking even after adjusting the float per the spec, since i want to have a reliable Jeep that i can enjoy with no woirries i wonder if i should change it to Solex carb for example or send it for refurbishment , what do you think? Best, Dubi

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would make sure your electric fuel pump is not putting out too much pressure. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help.

The carburetor on my f134 has the choke set up diffent. Do i connect the choke to where the pedel connect to or ? Okay

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can walk you thru it.

Another asks if the throttle/choke cables are the same. My choke cable seems long/smashed against the firewall and unable to move with the choke now on the side and not the rear. How is the choke cable run? Does it need to be shortened?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They are the same other than the engraved knob. They are cut to length.

Do you sell rebuild kits for this carb?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We sure do: https://www.kaiserwillys.com/carburetor-repair-kit-fits-53-71-jeep-willys-with-solex-carburetor Thanks

I have a 1950 truck with an F head engine. Mine needs to hook to vacuum line does this have the fitting, and should it work ok for my application thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I do believe this has a vacuum port. Usually though this is off the fuel pump.

Do you sell the recommended "in-line fuel pressure regulator, between the fuel pump and the carburetor to a low setting of 1.75 to 2 pounds? If yes, what's the part number?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
12804 is what i recommend for it.

52-66 M38A1 (with modification) whats the modification needed?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The original carburetor was a side draft. This one is a down draft. The modification would be to make sure you have an air horn to give it the proper bend. That number is 809785. Thanks

I installed this carburetor and it was working great. I spent a day getting my new gas pedal linkage prefect, the throttle was open and closed probably 50 times. Now it is sticky. It doesn't auto return to closed. No linkage is connected. It's the shaft in the carb sticking.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Make sure you are not running any bad gas. Non ethanol. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can help out.

Just recently purchased this carb and bolted it up. Ran very well and idled correctly but when I shut down the engine, within a minute or two the carb starts leaking fuel at the area where the choke cable hooks up, is there a solution to correct this or will I need to return the carb for replacement ?

Willys Tech:
Sounds like it may be flooding. I would double check your fuel pressure and if the motor is no shutting down properly i.e. chugging.

Have a 53 CJ-3B. Carb is a Carter YF 738 (not 938). Is this Solex a direct replacement?

Willys Tech:
They originally used a 938 on that vehicle. The carb you have on there now is unoriginal. This is a replacement for the original they used.

I need a complete carburetor model 1954 jeep Willys CJ-S

Willys Tech:
I think you mean CJ-5. They didnt start making those untill 1955 really. This is a direct replacement for the vehicles listed above with the 4-134 F head engine with the Carter YF carb.

I have a 47 2A with a F4-134 motor in it, will this carb allow me to go back to an original low profile hood without a cut out in it? Also, what air cleaner will I need to run with it?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, it will not.

Do you sell a dry air filter that fits this carburetor?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, you have to use your original oil bath.

Hi, can you tell me the total weight of the carburator? Thank you very much

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Apprx 6 pounds.

Bought a new Solex carburetor from you all for my 1956 CJ5 F head engine. Engine also has a new fule pump just like the old with the vacume. Teh carb seems to be overloading with fuel. Any help would be appricated.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Make sure your fuel pressure is below 3-3/4 pounds. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can help you out too. Thanks!

They are the same height as the carter.

I have a 1954 m38A1. My carb has AISAN YF stamped on it. Will this 923808 work for a replacement?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The YF you have on there is unoriginal. But the 923808 does fit for the M38A1.

I bought a new carburetor from you 02/17/2017, order number 340318A. I only got things running here in the last two weeks. I have fuel delivered by an electric fuel pump and get fuel to the carburetor. The carburetor will not take fuel. If I prime the carb, it will start and run. If I leave it over night, I will have to prime it again. What am I missing? Tim.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Make sure your not putting out too much fuel pressure. Electrical ones tend to put out way too much over 4.5 pounds. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can help out on the hard starting.

I have a 1963 CJ5, and I'm going to install a turbocharger to it, this carburetor can be installed to work like a blown carburetor? if not, which carburetor might I use?

Hello, I have a Carter YF 938S on my engine and I was wondering if this should work?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, this would be a replacement for that.

I need a carburetor that has a shorter profile. I have put a F134 engine in an MB body. can this work as a lower profile so the hood will close?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You will probably have a clearance issue given the 4-134F motor. Call me toll free. I can try to help you out. Ask for Mike M.

this carburetor looks a little different then the one I have. I have a 1955 cj5 and the carburetor is a carter yf

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It is not the original carburetor for the CJ-5. It is an aftermarket replacement carburetor that will replace the original YF carburetor. It will fit on top of the manifold and use the original linkage, no problem. It will work just fine.

I have a 53 m38 a1. The carb looks taller and I see the add requires modification for m38a1 What do I need to change to use this carb and is it the same height as my carter

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This carb will work for the A1 and you won't have any clearance issues. The main modification you will have to make is adding an air horn on top of the carb - 809785. Thanks!

Sure. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can try to help out.

Unlike the original carburetor on my M38A1, there isn't a "choke disk" that closes the air opening on the Solex to choke the engine at startup. After installing the Solex, the jeep is hard to start when cold. How does the Solex choke the carb.?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Its internal on the Solex. Make sure you are getting fuel flow to it if the engine has set up for while.

After replacing my Carter 938 SD on my 1955 Willys Jeep CJ5 with the Solex carburetor, the hood will not close with the old oil bath air cleaner. What's the problem? I measured a height difference between the old carb and the new one at 3/4".

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You have to use your original air horn with it. Something is unoriginal on your vehicle. This solex will 100% work to close the hood. Please call us toll free and we can help.

The throttle stop broke, the piece that actually connects the linkage to the carb. Can I just get that? or a whole new carb? i modified the original carbs arm, but its not right.

The Solex carb. for M38A1 with snorkel package What modification is necessary? Do you have one in stock? Yes we do have these in stock. You will also want to order part number: 809785

Willys Tech:
Yes, this is the proper replacement carb for the 4-134 F head engine.

I have to pour fuel into the carb to start when cold. Jeep also stumbles badly when cold. It seems as though the choke doesn't create enough rich mixture. The accelerator pump is working as I can see fuel come out the nozzle when the throttle opened but the engine will not start even after pumping throttle. I even put a electric pump on thinking the carb was draining after shutting off. Can the solex be adjusted to make it run more rich.

Willys Tech:
There is an adjustment screw at the base to change the mixture.

How tall is this carburetor? I have a 46 CJ2A with an F-134 engine, currently with a modified hood to allow the carb to fit, but I would like to restore the hood and fit it all underneath if possible. Thanks!

Willys Tech:
Fuel pump fill levels vary. Some fill up some remain low. The big thing is that your fuel pump only puts out 2-1/2 pounds pressure.

Can I get just the float for this carb? My float fills with gas and sinks.

Willys Tech:
I would do the water test on it. Place it in a glass of water and see where the bubbles are coming out. Sauder the hole.

Does this carburetor have any kind of filter built in it?

Willys Tech:
If you have a rusty fuel tank I would also buy part number: 8126312

Willys Tech:
It should work ok with some modification of the linkage.

I have a 55 CJ-5. Little rough around the edges, but getting cleaned up. The carb needs to be rebuilt. It looks like the #923995. It also has the original oil bath air filter. Will the Solex #923808 fit in its place? If so, will it need any other parts to make it work?
