Questions & Answers
Hi Mike. My m38a1 is having trouble running and starting. We did the 24 volt distributor rebuild kit, carb rebuild kit, blew out the fuel lines and fuel filter and cleaned the fuel tank thoroughly. The previous owner added a fuel pressure regulator. What fuel pressure does this engine require? The spark plugs are clean and we are getting spark at the points. Could the firing order be off? The jeep was running and then it just started having trouble. The plate with the points mounted to it rocks back and forth. Might that be worn out? Looking for answers without changing all of the parts. Thanks.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Double check your pressure is not higher than 4 pounds. I would check your timing as well and make sure you have spark coming out of the distributor as well.

Is it possible to have this distributor bottom with a 12 volt system. My 52 M38 came with this distributor and the water prof plugs, but only one battery. HELP!
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You still have a 24 volt distributor. If your going to run 12 volt you need part numbers: 906725 or 923068.
