Does it fits a CJ3A? Is it a NOS equivalent to Part # 647693?

I have a 1952 willy's M38 Steering shaft& worm gear in disrepair ie bent the worm gear is longer than mb etc I take it sector shaft is 15/16" rather than 7/8" can you supply correct one 42" long please advise regards Terry

Mike, What is the best lubricant to use in the gear box around the worm gear and bearings? Heard every thing from axle grease to 140 weight oil? Thanks, Mark

We typically use 90 weight gear oil. Ive seen people use knuckle lube, heavy duty axle grease, ect ect.

mike, trying to find the proper steering box tube and worm gear for my 1963 m38a1, i have the 5/16 sector shaft and i know the worm gear i have is 42 inches long, however as we discussed i think this is a different set up then what this jeep came with, the shaft I have does have a number on it if that will help, Thanks Mike G.

Can you replace the steering gear tube without replacing the worm gear? Worm gear looks ok, tube appears to be broken.
