I need to paint the chassis of a 1955 CJ5, I media blasted it already and removed the rust. Do I need to use a primer before applying this paint to the chassis, if so, what type of primer do you recommend? Do I need a paint spray gun, if so, what type of spray gun do I need? or can I apply it with roller? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We typically use a good Rustoleum paint. Some people will even use a roll on bed liner material.

I have a 48 CJ2A in need of body paint. Local paint shops want $3500 - $5000 for a flat olive drab paint. I'm not looking for an auto show paomt job, just a basic protection. One says I need to sand blast it first and apply primer to entire body. Another says I only need to sand out rust spots and lightly sand out old paint first. Same price for both. Do I need to take body down to bare metal first? Can you recommend a good primer paint?
Willys tech:
That sounds high to me. Send me over some pictures of your vehicle and I can try to help.
