Thinking about using your paint for primer and top coat with a gun and compressor, then applying camo stripes with black Rustoleum rattle cans, then Kaiser Willy's clear coat. Do you know if that would that bond and cure ok? I've never used alkyd enamel and I'm concerned the black might flake off or bubble. Wish y'all made compatible black rattle cans.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We dont sell a clear coat. if you can please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can help further.

That is something you will have to have mixed there locally.

Can this be used on aluminum? I'm interested in using in on an aluminum boat.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would think as long as you properly prime the metal it would, but have not personally used it directly on aluminum.

Does this require a top coat or clear coat?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, they didnt originally use but you can if you wanted to.

How much paint would you need to paint a cj3a in gallons?

John Ciofalo:
I just finished a CJ2a - painting just the body, inside and out, to include one coat in the wheel wells, and engine compartment (including one coat on the under side of the hood), but not the chassis, windshield frame, or the dash. Prepped with a dk. green (almost OD) primer to help coverage and to help hide any paint missed on backside of brackets, etc. The windshield, wheels, and dash had been previously finished with the matching spray can OD paint offered here. I thinned for spraying, 3 parts paint to 1 part slow reducer (I'm in dry Arizona), and did 2 full (but not real wet, as I have a habit of running paint) coats in a 75 degree garage - and I consumed just about a half gallon of this paint. I would estimate that even adding the dash and windshield, and shooting wetter than I do, a single gallon would easily spray an entire CJ3a body.
