Questions & Answers
I have the sending unit part 640694. It reads about 125 ohms at empty and 8 or so ohms at full. what is the ohm range of the gauge? I have found multiple aftermarket gauges but most of them work from 0 ohms at empty to 90 at full, not the higher number at empty.

In my 1993, M38A1 12v conversion I have installed the 640694 sending unit and the this 640768 12v gauge. When the ignition is on it registers correctly, however, when I begin to start the engine the gauge floats back to empty. I notice the movement as soon as the key starts the turn to start even before the starter is engaged. Any idea?

I would check your ground wires on this and connections in general. Also maybe take a ohms reader to your sending unit.
