This seal doesn't look the same as the original felt seal that is in my axle. The original doesn't have the "extension." Is that an upgrade of some sort?

Do the axle shafts and bearing races need to be removed to replace these oil seals?

Yes these go to the inside of the bearings.

I have a slow leak of rear end oil coming from the rear end of my 50 Jeepster It appears that it is coming from the driveshaft area and migrating to the bottom and dripping off. What part/seal would I need for this leak? thanks
