If you bought an original CJ-3B with rear support plate riveted in; you would have to remove rivets to install pintle/tow hitch?

Yes, they do share mounting holes.

Any suggestions on how to intall these when attaching the cross member to the frame?

Willys Tech:
Typically you have to get a rivet gun. Your local NAPA has them.

What is the best way to remove old rivets and how do you install the new ones?

Willys Tech:
Just squeeze the split end together to take out and then use a small flat head screw driver to put the new ones in and bend.
