Questions & Answers
I'm having problems getting the filler block guard back in the slot in the block after replacing the rope seal in my '60 Truck with the 226 Super Hurricane. Do I need to loosen and lower the crank to do this. The manual doesn't suggest that I do. I read on a forum that someone pushed and pulled the new seal in place without removing the filler block guard, but my book says to remove it. Is this approach viable? Should I try and find the newer filler block guard that uses the neoprene seal?
Willys Tech:
Yes you will probably have to lower the crank to do this. If you have a rope rear main you ahve to stick with it. The neoprene and rope are not interchangeable.
