There is a double groove pulley on the crankshaft of my 1949 CJ3a. The water pump is single pulley and so is the generator. There is nothing else requiring a belt. Can I just order a single groove crankshaft pulley? Thank you.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, single groove is what you should have on that vehicle.

They really should just slide right on. A tight slip fit. Sometimes you have to tap into place.

I have a1961 CJ5 with the double pulley. It appears that I only need a single pulley (belt groove) for water pump and generator. Can I use this with the stock setup? I plan to add a 12 volt alternator also. Thanks, Glenn
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, you can switch to a single groove with no issue. It will also work with double as well.

Does this pulley have timing groove notch...? Does the shaft hole need to be reamed to fit ...?
Willys Tech:
You'll have to mark it once timed. The shaft hole should slide over without any major issues. We have not had any problems with this pulley.
