I have received this frame for my CJ-3A. It is shorter in length and is about 2 inches shorter in height. It appears to be for the CJ-2A. If I install this tray, will it fit properly with the fenders etc? Is there a CJ-3A tray?

Yes, this should mount on your frame. They dont attach to the fender.

They originally used a 12 volt battery that had a battery top hold down dimension of 9-3/8" x 7-1/2" - see part number: BATTHOLDKIT

My Battery tray on my 50 CJ3A that I need to replace has a bracket welded to front cross member and then riveted to frame at front and back? is this correct replacement or is mine not original?

Yes this is the proper one for your vehicle. The brace on your frame will weld (or bolt) up you like.
