Are these the original gauge steel?
:
The only difference between the OEM tank and the replacement is, no filler neck insert for the trash screen & gas cap chain. The top lip where the hold down strap goes will have to be bent down for the strap to fit and the screws holding the fuel pick up may have to be cut down, mine were about 3/32 too long and bottomed out. Not a big deal and I'm happy with the new tank.

I am restoring a M38a1 and as such this is my first attempt. Problem I have is that the original fuel tank has some pin size holes due to rust, is this a reapirable issue either with fibre glass and or solder along with an interior liner' Your help will be apreciated. I am completley sold on your catalog and either way I look forward to doing business with your company. Dave Harrison

I really would say that is a tough repair. If your old tank's metal has thinned then it really will never be right. This tank is the way to go. Brand new.

Is the M38A1 fuel tank made of stainless steel? If not, what kind of steel is it? What kind of paint, primer or other coating does it come with?
Willys Tech:
These are painted and ready for install. There is no such thing as a stainless tank for this vehicle. They cannot rust as long as you keep clean gas in them.
