Questions & Answers
are these covers ready to accept the modern rubber seal or the early rope seal ?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Not sure what you are asking. The front timing seal is a standard metal oil seal with rubber on the ID.

I have the above timing cover and l brought a new seal to replace the old one however l have since found out that it does not have a removeable seal just a strip of webbing and thick rope to hold it in. The webbing and rope need replacing, is this something you supply and how do l replace it without buying a replacement cover. I have an early 1946 CJ2A

The early style timing covers were rope style. You have to get creative to make seal work for the front of them.
