Questions & Answers
j-86935 a is the motor serial number on my 1950 CJ3A motor. I need to order a thermostat, gasket and housing. what will fit is the the two hole gasket (bolt hole 4 inch center) not the 3 hole gasket and housing that is recommended for the 1950 cj-3a. I need to order these parts but I am confused on what size motor I have. Of course the guy I bought it from does not know. I installed a carburetor that is recommended for a 1950 cr3-r ($125.00) and changed out the universal type ($350.00) that is not recommended for the 1950 cj. the $125 carburetor did not fit without me drilling out the bolt holes to fit the manifold studs (did not take much drilling for it to fit). Will that carburetor work with out problems? it seems like it will so far. Could you all tell me what motor is in the 1950 cj-3a by the serial number j-86935? firing order is 1-3-4-2 tappet clearance engine co. intake .014 exhaust .01 My intent is to keep the cj and drive it for my personal use. The tub has been replaced and it is rust free, good paint and is a solid vehicle. once I am comfortable with the engine running I want to order top cover and different tires and wheels. I don't want to be broke down along the road, I want cj to be correctly done as possible. thank you---Joe
