I have a 1951 CJ3A with a leaky transfer case and none of the shift levers will stay in gear and fall back to neutral when moving. I have to bungee cord them into gear to get them to work properly. Is it time for a rebuilt or new transfer case or is this an easier problem to fix?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sounds like it. Your poppet balls and springs and shift forks are for sure worn.

Willys Tech:
It all probably needs to be gone thru. These are all new internals in original cases.
