Can this part be used with a sealed front bearing?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, it doesnt effect it.

The oil passage on one I received is partially blocked with casting material. Is this intended to reduce volume of oil flow through bearing to help reduce leakage or should I grind out this extra casting material to open up passage to full width?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Casting. I would clear it and if you need a replacement we are happy to help on too.

When switching to this cap/seal, should I polish the input shift where the seal will ride?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes for sure. Grease it as well.

Do you sell the 3 special bolts that hold this retainer to the transmission?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech.:
Those you have to pick up local hardware store.

I ordered a new retainer cap and a seal. I did not realize they come together. Do i need a gasket between the retainer cap and the transmission?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, you do need a gasket for your cap.

I installed this bearing retainer and now my throwout bearing and fork catch on the hole in the bell housing and my clutch is completely unadjustable and won’t release. What am i missing, does this require a different clutch fork?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your clutch release cable is adjustable and your free pedal travel should be checked.

If I tighten the 3 bolts on the bearing retainer my transmission gets tight and I cannot turn the yoke. Is there a shim that needs to be added ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No shim at the front bearing cap. Your new grease seal is most likely just tight in the front. They are hard to turn by hand when new.

How come you don’t have clutch releases pin on the other side for left hand clutch and if you do is it a different part number

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You can use this as a LH drive too. You just need to move the fulcrum.

I have a 59 Willys with a T90 transmission the number stamped in my retainer is 3741458. Is this the same retainer?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, as long as you have a 4 cylinder engine. If you have the 6 cylinder - 906201 - this is correct number. Thanks

Is the upgraded new neoprene seal it comes with the same as the one sku# 645985

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, this will have the neoprene seal in it.

Says it comes with new neoprene seal. Does this stop the oil from traveling into the bell housing, because the felt seal don't stop it and now my clutch is oil soaked and slipping. I've heard I can get a sealed bearing and replace the front bearing with it, but if this new cap and seal stops the problem, I wouldn't need to pull the shaft and bearing.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
this prevents any transmission fluid from leaking into your bell housing that is correct.

does this cap fit over bearing. outside bearing is 3 1/8. and is the inside diamiater of shaft 1 1/8 ? thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This bolts to the outside of the transmission case. It slides over the input shaft.

Does the neoprene seal replace the felt seal? Or do I still use the felt seal?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct. It replaces it

will this fit T 96 -1B overdrive W.G.D.W ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, this is for the T-90 transmission only.

Two questions: 1. How much play should the main drive gear shaft have in this bearing retainer cap? Mine is not snug. 2. Is there a way to remove and replace the front bearing (mine has a little play in it) without removing the entire main drive gear shaft from the tranny?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You should snug. There should be approx. .003" on end play. Sorry, you will have to dissemble the transmission to replace the front bearing.

I have the T90 paired with a dauntless v6 225. I need the correct front bearing retainer. Can you help. I have one but it is broken. Thanks!

Willys Tech:
906201 is probabaly the one you need if you have the V6-225 up there.

ok I got part number 640422 and the pin for the clutch release is on the wrong side how do I remove it or do you have one with it on the opposite sidemine needs to pin on drivers side

Willys Tech:
It will just press off and press into either side.

does this retainer come w/ the neoprene oil seal,or does it use the felt seal.

Willys Tech:
This is just the steel cap itself. It can take either Im sure.

does the throw out bearing spring hook to this retainer in the hole opposite the fork ball stud

Willys Tech:
Yes that is correct.

Does this cover come with the fork pivot ball included?

Willys Tech:
Yes, that is correct.

I have a 1956 jeep willys wagon with a 283 chevy small block. will this retainer fit the transmission along with the adptors currently on it? the housing for the adaptor has 4 bolt holes.

Willys Tech:
Yes as long as you have the original T90 transmission that still uses the same retainer cap as the 4-134 engine.
