what's the small plate for when i removed my old one i did not see the small plate?

I've been buying some parts from you for my M38A1 Restoration . Today I ordered the rear crossmember kit with the rivets and plates. Were the original rear crossmembers Completely riveted on? Are these rivets same as the originals? The reason I'm asking is I plan on "Hot Riveting " it back onto My 1952 M38A1. Also: do you have the 12V coil that can convert the M38A1 M series distributor? Some were on Ebay a while back but haven't seen any lately! Would rather purchase it from you! Thanks for the parts! -----Dave
