Serial Number Location(s):
Plate on rear entry area of the step on drivers (left) side. Sit in the drivers seat, put your left arm down and check by the tool bin. Also check under by the glove box. Another possiblity is under the hood, on the dash near the right hood hinge.
Engine Number Location:
(L-134 and F-134 Engines) - Front of the block behind water pump.
(6-226 Engine) - Above the generator on the left front of the engine.
(230 OHC Engine) - Above the oil pan on the right front corner of the block.
Vehicle Identification
Model Differences by Year:
1946-1950 9 slot flat grille, 1950-1964 7 slot "V" shaped grille. 1947 single taillight, frame mounted radiator, cowl seam absent, fixed wing vent window. 1948 floor shift, has cowl seam. 1949 full bench seat, cardboard headliner. 1950 radiator changes to grille mount, grille changes from flat to "V" shape. 1951 new serial number format, flat fender changed to "V" shaped fender. 1952 key start added. 1953 horizontal grille bars change from 5 to 3. 1954 only 4wd available. 1955 the term Truck changes to Utility Truck. 1956 middle horizontal grille bar moved one position up, 2 tone paint available. 1957 larger battery box for 12 volt electrical system. 1958 dome light lens changes from glass to plastic. 1960 - windshield glass changes from split to single glass pane. 1961 - single glass windshield non removable battery box. 1962 to 1964 6-230 Tornado engine available as an option.
